There was a scary moment in tonight’s Eagles-Packers Thursday Night Football game.
In the first quarter of the game, Packers running back Jamaal Williams was forced to leave the game on a stretcher after a late dirty hit from Eagles defensive end Derek Barnett.

Dirty and late hit by #Eagles DE Derek Barnett. #Packers RB Jamaal Williams had to be taken off on a stretcher. Just unnecessary. https://t.co/6TDDYlKzXy

They're clearing the field, and the stretcher is coming out for Jamal Williams. What a dangerous, awful play by Derek Barnett.

Williams was able to give the crowd a thumbs-up as he was taken off the field.

Barnett was penalized but not ejected for the play which led to fans and media alike to criticize the refs and the NFL for not immediately kicking him out of the game.
NFL owners have given head of officiating Al Riveron authority to eject players remotely for extreme personal fouls. Riveron needs to explain why he didn't eject Derek Barnett.

Thoughts are with Jamaal Williams.
You can't legislate intent, but that's a hit by Derek Barnett that needs to result in an ejection.

Derek Barnett should be ejected. Running start to helmet to helmet? Cmon

Barnett clearly feels terrible after the fact, but I can’t understand how you don’t eject him for that. Those are the exact type of hits the league should be trying to deter.

They should let Derek Barnett play again when Jamaal Williams can.
