Eagles Fan Chased By Security After Showering Nick Sirianni With Popcorn Following Loss To Buccaneers

How much can a year change?

Well, just as Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni.

One year ago, Sirianni was a deity in the city after taking his team to the Super Bowl and coming up just moments shy of victory. Now, Sirianni is getting showered with popcorn by Eagles fans following a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in NFL Wild Card round.

Life comes at you fast.

Sirianni cuts a brash figure throughout the NFL. His often outlandish attitude played well in Philadelphia when the team was winning. But after a 10-1 start this season, the Eagles lost six of their final seven games and fans quickly turned on the third-year head coach.

Now, despite a 34-17 career record and three playoff appearances, Philly fans want the 42-year-old out the door.

Following the Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs, Sirianni expressed his anticipation for the 2023 season.

“What it does, you get close and it just fuels your hunger,” he told NBC Sports Philadelphia at the annual league meeting. “You know the steps that you had to take to get there and you know every detail matters and you’re going to try to recapture everything you can as far as the work to put in. It just makes you more hungry.

“There’s that thing that Jalen [Hurts says], ‘I’m not hungry, I’m starving.’ You guys all saw that. ‘I’m starving for this s—.’ I think that just makes you more hungry, makes you more starving. I know that’s the sentiment of the guys we have in that locker room. I know it’s the sentiment of the coaches and I sure know it’s the sentiment of me. Just more determined than ever.”

Fast forward almost a year and he may find himself out of a job. Though it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t find one fairly quickly.

But if, in fact, he returns to Philly, he’ll have a hard time getting back on the good side of a notoriously passionate fan base.
