The Philadelphia Eagles have given their All-Pro right tackle, Lane Johnson, a massive contract extension worth $33.445 million for one year. The deal includes $30 million guaranteed, and he is now under contract through 2026.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news on Friday, revealing that the Eagles had secured one of the top offensive tackles in the league with a new contract. Johnson has been a vital component of the Eagles’ success since he was drafted fourth overall in 2013, with the team’s record being significantly better when he is on the field.

Johnson’s performance on the field is impressive, and he has not surrendered a sack in the past two seasons, since Week 10 of 2020 to be exact, a streak he continued throughout the postseason while playing through an injury. He had surgery in the offseason to correct a torn adductor, but that has not affected his form or the team’s confidence in him.

Johnson’s achievements in the league are noteworthy, and he was named to his fourth Pro Bowl in 2022. He is also one of only three Eagles offensive tackles to be named to more than one All-Pro team.

The Eagles have praised Johnson’s contribution to the team’s success over the years, with Coach Nick Sirianni calling him “the best tackle in the NFL” in December. Johnson’s excellent form and unwavering dedication to the sport have made him an invaluable asset to the team and a popular figure among fans.

The Eagles’ decision to extend Johnson’s contract demonstrates their confidence in his ability to continue performing at the highest level in the coming years. With Johnson now under contract through 2026, the team can focus on building a solid roster around him as they look to compete for the Super Bowl.
