Philadelphia Eagles’ first-round pick Jalen Carter finds himself embroiled in a legal battle after settling criminal charges linked to a tragic car crash that claimed the lives of two individuals earlier this year.

While Carter managed to evade the collision, a former University of Georgia football staffer, Victoria Bowles, who survived the accident, has filed a lawsuit against him.

The suit alleges that Carter left the scene of the crash without offering aid to the victims.

According to reports from Mark Schlabach of ESPN.com, the lawsuit claims that Carter, fully aware of his shared responsibility in the incident, failed to fulfill his legal duty of remaining at the scene.

Instead, it suggests that the rookie football player, motivated by concerns over negative publicity and its potential impact on his NFL draft status, made a conscious decision to avoid questioning and evade responsibility for his actions.

In addition to the lawsuit against Carter, Bowles has also targeted the University of Georgia athletics association, holding them accountable for negligence in permitting staffer Chandler LeCroy to operate the rental car involved in the tragic accident.

Allegedly, LeCroy was intoxicated at the time of the crash, resulting in his untimely death. Bowles seeks damages from LeCroy’s estate, as well as the athletics association, due to the injuries she sustained in the accident.

Tragically, another former Georgia player, Devin Willock, lost his life in the collision.

In the wake of this devastating incident, Willock’s family has also initiated legal proceedings against the university, Jalen Carter, and other relevant parties.

The lawsuit filed by Willock’s family echoes the sentiments expressed by Bowles, underscoring the shared responsibility of those involved and seeking appropriate recourse for the loss they have suffered.
