Ed Orgeron Goes Shirtless At LSU Wedding After Being Dealt $8 Million Court Loss Vs. Ex-Wife

Former LSU football coach Ed Orgeron went viral over the weekend for his antics at an old staff member’s wedding. The national championship winner was seen partying shirtless on the dance floor while also providing a brief speech in his raspy Cajun accent.

The wedding came around the same time of a notable court ruling involving his 2021 buyout from the Tigers. He’s expected to owe his wife $8 million of the $17 million total.

Orgeron was the head coach in Baton Rouge from 2016 to 2021. He led the program to a title in 2019 with a perfect 15-0 season. Things unfortunately came crashing back down to reality soon after.

Orgeron’s first four seasons at LSU were fantastic. His teams went 40-9 highlighted by that championship run. In his last two years at the helm, however, the Tigers were just 11-11. He was let go after the 2021 season, making the school look foolish for negotiating an extension in 2020.

Ed Orgeron signed that new deal just 43 days before filing for divorce from his then-wife, Kelly. Last week, the Louisiana Supreme Court ruled that she deserved more than $8 million of his $17 million buyout.

“The coach, and his wife, were given the comfort, the assurance, the confidence, and the peace of mind, that even if his coaching was terribly unsuccessful, or even if for other reasons that could not be labeled as ‘for cause,’ the school felt the need to part ways, he would not do so empty handed,” wrote Justice Jefferson Hughes on behalf of the majority in a 5-2 ruling.

“This comfort and peace of mind inured to the benefit of both husband and wife in the college football coaching business.”

That $8.13 million total was equal to essentially 50% of Orgeron’s buyout. While he does have the opportunity to appeal, he didn’t seem to let the judgement keep him down long.

The former head coach let loose at the reception, becoming the star of the show with his moves on the dance floor.

Videos of Orgeron quickly surfaced on social media. He was also heard giving a short speech, aptly accompanied by a “Geaux Tigahs!”

Ed Orgeron quickly put his court ruling behind him. He was living in the moment with friends and colleagues. He continues to be a fan favorite despite that unfortunate exit in Baton Rouge.
