  • Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple has been getting torched by NFL fans long before the Super Bowl for talking loud but not always delivering on the field
  • Apple took to Instagram to share a message about fire and demons that sounds like J.R.R. Tolkein writing about hobbits and Mordor as Eli focuses on next season

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple has made a career of playing with a chip on his shoulder. He was a 2015 National Champion with Ohio State and a top 10 pick in the NFL Draft.

Eli Apple came into the NFL as a top 3 cornerback prospect but since then he sure talks a lot for a guy who ranked 59th in receptions allowed last season and had an overall PFF grade of 61.0. He’s been taking a lot of heat since the Super Bowl after this highlight video went viral that showed him getting beaten over and over and over and over and over.

Bally Sports correspondent Annie Agar has been relentless with the Eli Apple jokes in her TikTok videos and those have gotten so popular that Eli Apple’s mommy, Annie Apple, took to Twitter to defend him from the big, bad bullies. And now Eli Apple sounds like some dude got a wedgie from his older brother and is venting like someone who just read The Hobbit by Tolkein.

Seriously, the language he used in his Instagram post is straight-up hilarious for a guy talking about being a shutdown cornerback and not someone playing board games in the basement with his friends.

Here’s his Instagram post with the caption below:

Just in case that caption isn’t loading, here’s the funny part…

Yall ReAwoke A Fire In Me That Will Only Make Me Stronger and Im Beyond Excited To Unleash That Demon Again to Exponential Levels On Any Opp That Lines Up Across From Me Next Season 🖤🐅

Instead of posting about demons and fire on Instagram, he should start by googling his own name. If you search ‘Eli Apple’ on Google right now, the top hit is an article about his mom defending him against a woman making jokes on TikTok, another article about advice Eli wouldn’t take, and another article about how Apple is now “public enemy number one.’

Eli, if you’re reading this I want you to know you should just go focus on yourself. You’d probably benefit from deleting Twitter and Instagram from your phone for a few months and just tune out the noise. It’s great and all that you hear the haters and that will serve as motivation but dude, it doesn’t sound nearly as powerful as you think it does to bring that talk on social. All it’s doing is showing that you’re listening to the chatter and letting that stuff get to you. Won’t that just give wide receivers more ammunition to get in your head next season?

Work on that 61.0 PFF grade, don’t talk about demons.

Eli Apple, if you’re still reading this, definitely don’t go search ‘Eli Apple’ on Twitter to see what people are saying lately. Just go get faster. You had ONE pass defended in the Super Bowl. One.
