Eli Drinkwitz Takes Corny Swipe Josh Heupel About ‘Standing On Business’ Then Does The Exact Opposite

Eli Drinkwitz is a quirky guy with a personality that often comes off as cringe to many around the SEC. That was on full display after a win over Tennesse this past weekend.

Missouri pummeled the Vols 36-7, avenging losses of the previous two seasons. In those past matchups, Tennessee outscored the Tigers 128-48.

Drinkwitz’s bunch must’ve entered the contest feeling disrespected with the fact that UT hung 60-burgers in both matchups under Josh Heupel, giving extra motivation to his guys.

And it worked.

Mizzou was dominant on defense, holding a typically potent Vol offense to just seven points. The Tigers had their way with Tennessee all day, seeing running back Cody Schrader rush for 205 yards. He added 116 receiving yards, helping his team score the final 33 points of the game.

After the contest, Drinkwitz had some words for Heupel at midfield. While (quickly) shaking the coach’s hand, Drinkwitz said, “We stand on business, Josh.”

The comment has quickly gone viral, resulting in a slew of reaction.

To “stand on business” means to take care of your obligations. To say what you’re going to do and following through. Missouri did so on the field, but its head coach didn’t exactly embody that message in his trash talk.

Rather than say the remark directly to Heupel, he scurried away before his rival could react.

“That is the epitome of a nerd trying to say something cool to a football player but running away so they don’t get beat up.”

“Literally the opposite of standing on business.”

“Couldn’t even look him in the eye as he said it.”

“He didn’t have time to say anything because he ran away.”

“He should’ve actually STOOD on BUSINESS when he said that.”

Instead, he looked like part of a Druski skit.

This should definitely add a little spice to next year’s matchup in Knoxville.
