Eric Reid has an idea on who should come in and replace Cam Newton if he misses significant time with his latest injury.
During last night’s Panthers-Patriots preseason game Cam injured his foot after scrambling on a play.

After the game was over, Panthers safety Eric Reid floated the idea of bringing in Colin Kaepernick if Newton was forced to miss any time with his foot injury.
Eric Reid said he hopes Cam Newton is OK and the injury is minor. If it ends up being something more significant, Reid reiterated his belief that Colin Kaepernick could come in and help any NFL team.

Eric Reid says IF Cam is hurt badly, Kaepernick could and should definitely “come in and help us.” Again, he stressed the IF and said he hoped Cam was fine.

It doesn’t seem like Cam is going to miss any games with the foot injury which means there’s no need to call Kaep just yet.
#Panthers QB Cam Newton is back in Charlotte and the official diagnosis is a mid-foot sprain. He had an X-Ray and other tests, and GM Marty Hurney says the team is “cautiously optimistic” that Newton will be ready for Week 1.
