Erling Haaland has been one of the biggest names in Soccer for years. He is the face of Manchester City and has been one of the best goal scorers on earth for as long as he’s stepped foot on the pitch.
The World Cup being hosted in the United States combined with Haaland’s heroics in Norway’s matches coupled with the Norwegian fans winning over Americans with their celebrations has led to an almost cult-like appreciation for Haaland developing overnight. That same appreciation cannot be seen among Brazilian soccer fans who have taken to flooding the comments on Instagram posts by Erling Haaland’s girlfriend following Brazil’s loss to Norway in the Round of 16.
Brazilian Soccer Fans Attack Erling Haaland’s Girlfriend In Comments
Isabel Haugseng Johansen has been Erling Halland’s girlfriend since the two started dating back in 2021. She is a regular fixture at his Manchester City matches and with him in public. But for some reason, Haaland’s success coupled with her celebrating her nation’s win has drawn the ire of Brazilians.
Here are a few comments from a video posted yesterday from the Norwegian fan section:
She is a pretty prolific poster. Isabel Johansen has 7 posts to her Instagram grid yesterday alone. In another post from yesterday, one of the top ‘liked’ comments comes from a Brazilian who wrote (via translation) “Now they’re going to lose 😂😂 let a stronger team come 😂😂.” There are countless comments of people flooding the national flag of Brazil in the comments.
It’s not all bad though! One person (via translation) commented “People, the woman is cheering for her country, her husband, why so many attacks, they made so many memes with her husband and they didn’t even say anything. In life you lose and win, they deserve it, they played too much. Respect…” Obviously, they’re not married. ‘Husband’ is poor translation of boyfriend/partner on Meta’s behalf but such is life.
Another person (@martha_arantes) commented “Show some respect. We have five World Cup titles. You don’t. 🇧🇷🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🤫.” So very humble.
It is interesting she hadn’t posted since September 2025 until yesterday when she unleashed 7 posts on Instagram, including these candid photos following Norway’s win over Brazil:
It should go without saying, but personal attacks on an athlete following the result of a match are pathetic and entirely unwarranted. Taking it a step further and leaving personal attacks on the families and loved ones of the athletes is deplorable.
While I sympathize with Brazilian fans upset after being bounced from another World Cup, taking to the Instagram comments of the opposing team’s star’s girlfriend is just pathetic. Act like you’ve been there before, Brazil. Where’s the pride in those 5 World Cup titles of yesteryear?
