ESPN’s Adam Schefter isn’t backing down from his Tom Brady retirement report.
On Saturday, Schefter, alongside Jeff Darlington, broke the biggest NFL story of the year when they revealed that Brady was retiring from the NFL.
Tom Brady is retiring from football after 22 extraordinary seasons, multiple sources tell @JeffDarlington and me.

Immediately after the report went viral, Brady’s father and agent both denied Brady had made a decision about his future.
Checked in with Tom Brady Sr. who tells me, and I quote, "This story Mike is total conjecture. Tommy has not made a final decision one way or the other and anybody else that says that he has is absolutely wrong." #TomBrady #Buccaneers

Pump the brakes for a bit.
Tom Brady has not informed the Bucs of his plans to retire. “No, he hasn’t that we know of,” Bruce Arians told me. “Agent (Donald Yee) just told us he hasn’t made up his mind.” https://t.co/1pb7AC4U45— Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) January 29, 2022
Brady also reportedly called GM Jason Licht to tell him he hadn’t made up his mind yet about what he wanted to do next season.
Confirming Tom Brady has called #Bucs GM Jason Licht to inform him he has NOT made up his mind about retiring or playing in 2022. @MikeSilver reported it first.

Despite the denials, Schefter went on the late-night edition of SportsCenter to stand by his report that Brady was set to announce his retirement “relatively soon.”
His family has denied that he’s made a decision, his agent Don Yee has said that Tom hasn’t made any decisions, and basically until he does, there’s no retirement until he says the word, and he has not announced anything, but he would be doing that relatively soon.”
