Former New York Jets first-round pick, Darron Lee, is facing further legal trouble as an arrest warrant has been issued for him due to his failure to appear in court for domestic violence and assault charges filed against him in April.

The 28-year-old linebacker was arrested in Ohio earlier this year after being accused of assaulting both his mother and the mother of his son.

Darron Lee was drafted by the Jets as the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He had an initial promising start to his professional career, with 36 starts during his three seasons with the Jets. However, his time with the team was marred by inconsistency and he ultimately didn’t live to expectations.

Following his stint with the Jets, Lee joined the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2019 season and then moved on to the Buffalo Bills in 2020. Despite the talent on the field he showed while in Ohio State, his off-field behavior has overshadowed his career.

The incidents leading to the arrest warrant involved the mother of Lee’s child calling the Dublin, Ohio police in April to report that he was assaulting his own mother.

The woman claimed that she heard screaming from an upstairs room and upon investigating, found Lee standing over his mother with a closed fist. The mother, who was later hospitalized, reported that her son had punched her multiple times in the head.

While being investigated for this incident, separate allegations emerged regarding an incident involving the mother of Lee’s child from October of the previous year. In that case, Lee was accused of throwing a phone at the woman, striking her head and causing her ear to bleed.

He also allegedly grabbed her neck and punched the pillow beside her head, resulting in red marks on her neck. It was reported that Lee suspected the woman of infidelity, leading to the altercation.

Recent court records, as reported by WBNS in Columbus, revealed that Lee had missed a court hearing related to these charges. As a result, an arrest warrant was issued for him in Franklin County, Ohio.

Lee’s failure to appear in court only adds to the legal troubles he is facing, further complicating his situation.
