Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton certainly holds no space in his heart for rival team Red Bull Racing.

But Hamilton took his ongoing feud with the team to a new level on Thursday.

Asked to comment on a recent criminal complaint filed against the FIA, Hamilton used the opportunity to throw some serious shade at Red Bull.

“I feel more than ever it is important to stand up, call out improper behavior and make sure people are held to account,” he began. Whilst some may think silence absolves them from responsibility – it does not.”

Those comments were about Susie Wolff’s criminal complaint. Wolff, the F1 Driver Academy managing director and wife of Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff , filed the complaint in response to an FIA investigation into her that alleged a conflict of interest between she and her husband.

The FIA closed the investigation within 48 hours and Hamilton immediately ripped the governing body.

But his comments on Thursday went a step further.

“Hopefully, this stand that she’s taken now will create change, have a positive impact, and especially for women,” he said. “We’re living in the time where the message is ‘If you file a complaint, you’ll be fired.’ That is a terrible narrative to be projecting to the world.”

That comment, particularly the second part, appears to be a thinly veiled bomb fired in the direction of Red Bull Racing.

The Austrian team recently suspended a female employee who accused team principal Christian Horner of workplace harassment.

Horner, meanwhile, faced no punishment following an internal investigation.

Formula 1 fans didn’t take long to read between the lines of Hamilton’s comment.

Neither Horner nor Red Bull has responded. But it’s clear that public perception is not their favor at the moment.
