The Falcons exposed Saints quarterback Derek Carr for throwing a truly ugly pass during Sunday’s game in Atlanta. They didn’t mean to put him on blast, it just happened that way.
Atlanta’s video team has been blowing the minds of NFL fans throughout the 12 weeks of the season. Their roof cam became an internet sensation overnight after the Falcons posted a crazy overhead angle of Bijan Robinson’s behind-the-back touchdown catch at the beginning of October.

It continues to provide incredible viral videos with every new week, and they are all edited to keyframe on the ball. Every clip from the roof cam tracks with the football, not the players.
The best overhead video from Sunday came during the first quarter.
Jessie Bates picked off a pass inside his own 10-yard-line and took it back for a touchdown. Atlanta’s roof cam kept with the defensive back for the entirety of his 92-yard pick-six.
Unfortunately, as cool as it was for Bates and the Falcons, it was equally as ugly for Carr and the Saints. Mostly just Carr.
The keyframing exposed him for throwing a very ugly pass. Not only did it wobble the entire way, his receiver never stood a chance.
To see it from the overhead angle puts the poor decision in focus.
Carr never should have thrown that ball. And if he did decide to throw the ball, which he did, it needed to come out much faster and much cleaner.
The Falcons tried to showcase Bates’ interception, and they did. At the same time, the team (unintentionally?) put Carr on blast. A truly terrible throw was captured in high definition from the most viral camera angle in sports right now. Tough.
