Heinicke has plenty of experience as a starting quarterback, having started 24 total games for Washington over the past two seasons. During that time, he threw for 5,278 yards and 26 touchdowns, but also had 21 interceptions. While his numbers may not be elite, he has proven that he can handle the pressure of being a starting quarterback in the NFL.
However, it is important to note that Heinicke is likely joining the Falcons as a backup to Desmond Ridder, who was the team’s draft pick in 2022. Despite the addition of Heinicke, it is still expected that Ridder will be the team’s starting quarterback this upcoming season.
