Man Loses In Fantasy Football. His Punishment Comes On A Southwest Flight In Front Of The Whole Plane

Fantasy football punishments have become a spectacle in their own right. Some leagues make the loser run a 5K in ridiculous costumes; others force them to take the SAT again.

But one league took their punishment to new heights. Literally.

The loser had to work an entire Southwest Airlines flight as an “honorary flight attendant,” passing out snacks, collecting trash, and facing a passenger vote to determine if he’d earned his wings.

From Fantasy Loser To In-Flight Employee

In a viral video with more than 52,000 views, football fan Jack Peterson (@pack.jeterson) documents his brother Miles’ punishment for losing their fantasy football league.

The flight attendant announces the situation over the intercom, explaining to the entire cabin that Miles is being tested out to become an “honorary flight attendant.”

“We’re gonna test him out today. And if he does a good job, you’re gonna vote on whether he will be the honorary flight attendant or not,” she says.

The video shows him going up and down the aisles like a real flight attendant, passing out snacks and beverages, and collecting trash from passengers, all while maintaining what appears to be a genuinely good attitude.

The Passenger Vote

After Miles completed his in-flight duties, the moment of truth arrived: the passenger vote.

“Push the flight attendant call button if you want everyone to vote him in,” the flight attendant instructs.

“Man, I see a lot of blue lights. That’s wonderful. That is so wonderful,” she says. “All right, guys. We got a lot of yeses.”

Then comes the “no” vote. “It’s a big fat no, he did not do a good job. Push your call button if it’s a no,” but no one moves.

“It’s unanimous,” the flight attendant announces to applause.

Fantasy Football Punishments

What started as simple bragging rights has evolved into an entire subculture of elaborate, public humiliations. Fantasy football punishments have exploded in popularity over the past decade.

According to DraftSharks, fantasy football punishments are “growing in popularity.” The punishments range from painless to torturous, but all serve the same purpose: keeping everyone engaged until the bitter end.

One of the most popular is The Waffle House Challenge. The loser has to eat as many waffles as they can in 24 hours and each waffle they eat deducts an hour.

Another one is the standardized test challenge, where losers must sit for the SAT or ACT in a room full of high schoolers and publicly share their score with the entire league.

Trend Hunter documented how brands have gotten in on the action—RED BARON created the “Humble Pie” featuring Carolina Reaper sauce, ghost pepper flakes, and habanero peppers specifically as a fantasy football punishment.

The brand even incentivized social media sharing by promising free regular pizzas to all league members if the recipient posted about the experience online.

“10/10,” Southwest commented.

“Miles is a fitting name for a flight attendant,” a person pointed out.

“This is actually madd creative, gotta make someone do this on an 18 hour flight,” a commenter added.
