People Are Sharing Their Favorite Sports Photos Of The Decade And It’s Making Me Emotional

There is less than one month left in the decade and I am just eight books shy of fulfilling my 2010 New Year’s resolution to read 10 books that year. Funny how time flies but self-worth never progresses.

Sports fans have endured a lot over the past decade–Manti Te’o’s fake girlfriend hoax, NFL owners copping handjobs from nondescript spas, Vontae Davis retiring at halftime, me getting banned from my intramural men’s league game for threatening the referee (all in good fun!).

The list goes on and it’s a fruitless endeavor to try to capture the absurdity of this past decade in sports with just one headline or image, but a collection of visuals helps to drum up nostalgia of some of the greatest (Wade/LeBron alley oop Renaissance photo) and most outrageous (THERE’S A DILDO ON THE FIELD!) photos in the past 10 years.

Here are the ones I found most worthy.

Now cue the music.

Matt’s love of writing was born during a sixth grade assembly when it was announced that his essay titled “Why Drugs Are Bad” had taken first prize in D.A.R.E.’s grade-wide contest. The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
