While the Philadelphia Eagles may have walked out of Washington with a much-needed 20-16 victory over the Football Team to stay in the NFC playoff race, the day almost ended on a sour note as second-year quarterback Jalen Hurts was almost crushed by Eagles fans as he was heading off the field and down the tunnel.

Following the game, NFL Network reporter Mike Garafolo shared a video of the railing collapsing just as Hurts was about to walk by. Luckily, it appears that no one was injured, as Hurts helped the fallen fans up and then took a couple of pictures with him.

And here’s the video from another angle, only further highlighting just how close the fans were to landing on Hurts:

After the incident, one of the fans who fell into the tunnel posted to Twitter to share that he managed to walk away from the ordeal with Jalen Hurts’ gloves:

With the win, the Eagles have improved to 9-7 and are currently the 6th seed in the NFC Playoffs. Hurts, who narrowly avoided a likely painful blow from his own fans as he was heading to the locker room, completed 17 of 26 passes for 214 yards and no touchdowns, while also rushing seven times for 44 yards.

The Eagles will wrap up their 2021-22 regular season with a visit from the Dallas Cowboys on January 9, while the Washington Football Team — who have nothing left to play for this season other than pride — will head up north to take on the awful New York Giants for their season finale. If the Eagles beat their heated rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, next week at home, they would clinch a berth in the NFC playoffs as no worse than the No. 7 seed with a record of 10-7.
