Ferran Torres wore a red 'Make Spain Great Again' hat to their championship parade
Spain won the 2026 World Cup thanks to an extra time goal from Ferran Torres. The Barcelona winger also made headlines at the championship parade with his outfit choice.
Spain wasted no time in beginning their World Cup victory celebrations, as their championship parade was held in Madrid just a day after they beat Argentina 1-0 in the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

The match went to extra time after a cagey 90 minutes that saw Spain dominate to such a degree that Argentina failed to register a single shot. While the defending World Cup champions did get two shots off in extra time — none on-goal, however — it was Spain that ultimately scored and secured the 1-0 win.
That lone goal came from Barcelona winger Ferran Torres, who showed up to the celebrations wearing a red hat that read “MAKE SPAIN GREAT AGAIN.” Torres wore the hat just about 24 hours after shaking hand with President Trump during the World Cup trophy presentation.

President Trump managed to work himself into World Cup Final headlines, as his lingering while the Spanish national team were going to do the traditional trophy lift forced FIFA President Gianni Infantino to jog across stage to usher him out of the way.

“Yes, hopefully we’ll present the trophy together in the final,” Infantino said of Trump presenting the trophy prior to the match. “That’s always been the plan, and that’s how it’s always been done in the past — the president of the country where the final is held presents the trophy together with the FIFA president.”
The Spanish national team’s social media also had to take Trump’s intrusion into their own hands by photoshopping him out of a post about the win.
Torres, 26 years old, has been with Barcelona since 2022 and has scored 41 goals in 140 appearances. His previous clubs include Valencia and Manchester Cty.
