The New Gameplay Trailer For ‘Volta Football’ In FIFA 20 Looks Even Better Than I Ever Imagined

Soccer is back. The Premier League kicks off its 2019/2020 season today with Liverpool taking on Norwich. Other leagues around Europe are getting up and running. And this means that the latest and greatest version of FIFA from EA Sports is just around the corner.

Those lucky enough to get beta codes for FIFA 20 will be able to start playing today but the rest of the world will have to wait until the FIFA 20 Ultimate, Champions, and Standard Edition worldwide releases on September 27th.

In the meantime, EA Sports is releasing some sick footage from the game. One of the big storylines ahead of FIFA 20 is the VOLTA gameplay. This is a new feature built on top of the existing EA Sports FIFA gameplay that will bring street soccer into the game.

EA released a new VOLTA gameplay trailer yesterday. Here’s that first look at FIFA 20 VOLTA gameplay:

I was sort of lukewarm on this addition to the game until now. Going forward I’m all aboard the hype train. This might’ve also been amplified by the fact that I pre-ordered FIFA 20 Ultimate last week and somehow hit the lottery and got my beta code yesterday so I’ll be able to start playing VOLTA mode later today in beta just as soon as the workweek is over…but I digress.

These are the main features that await us in VOLTA:

VOLTA FOOTBALLincludes a story mode that takes players through the world of VOLTA

VOLTA TOURan online connected experience where players can journey to different locations all over the world, including Tokyo, Amsterdam, New York, Cape Town, Mexico City, Rome, Paris and more

VOLTA LEAGUEan online experience where the new player versus player formats places your team against others online and wins lead to promotion into a higher division.

In Kick Off mode, “existing footballers from the World’s biggest clubs can compete in the streets and players can choose from a variety of options with VOLTA House Rules depending on what they want to jump into, including Survival, No Rules and First to X.

VOLTA will feature simplified rules, custom ball mechanics, a bunch of new environments, different match types like ‘Rush Keepers’ and ‘Street with Keepers’ along with a lot of new streetball features that fans (myself included) are pretty hyped on.

There’s also a lot of news on the ‘Career Mode’ front that has piqued my interest. Here are some of those highlights:
