Students At Final Four And National Championship Are Stuck With The Worst View In College Basketball

To be one of the few students selected to attend the Final Four and college basketball national championship is a great honor. It is a very exclusive list that is typically determined by a lottery system.

However, you should not expect to see anything once you are there.

Students are stuck with the worst-possible view at the biggest game of the year. The NCAA completely neglects to consider their ability to see the floor. They are placed directly behind the basket.

Considering that the three biggest games of the year take place at a football stadium, the configuration is not conducive to the actual sport being played. State Farm Stadium, host of this year’s Final Four, actually did a very good job with the layout of the court and the stadium— especially compared to 2022 in New Orleans and the first-ever national championship played at a football stadium in 1968.

That does not change the reality of the situation. It is impossible to see anything from the highest level of the stadium at this year’s Final Four in Glendale.

However, the view from the student section is even worse. Students are actually better off watching the game on the jumbotron instead of trying to watch the on-court action.

If being stacked up together behind the baseline was not bad enough, the court is raised above ground level. Students are not only forced to stand behind the band, cheerleaders and on-floor photographers, they are actually below court level. Their sightline barely extends above the hardwood.

And those who are stuck in the back of the pack can hardly see a thing.

Money is the driving force behind the NCAA’s decision to play the Final Four and national championship at a football stadium. This is not anything new and it creates an incredible atmosphere. The same cannot be said for the viewing experience. Especially for the students!
