Being a social media manager — or “admin” as the youths call it — is actually a lot more difficult than people realize, especially when working for a massive brand.

While the average person may see being in social media as merely making memes like Slim Jim and tweeting irreverent nonsense like Moon Pie, the fact is, the entire goal of the job is to please as many people as possible, which is literally antithetical to the very nature of social media, especially Twitter.

So, as a social media professional, I truly feel for other brands when they have a mishap, as you always receive far more attention for your mistakes than you do for your success.

However, all that said, what Florida State tweeted out this morning is not your run of the mill social media mishap because it’s strictly visual.

It’s not like they tweeted out a cringe-worthy video or said something accidentally racist. They didn’t misspell a sentence or share a link that didn’t work. Florida State, who play their first game of the season on Saturday, August 31, did this:

Now, I’m no Will Hunting (literally, once I got into Algebra 2 in high school, it was a fucking wrap on your boy’s math career), but I’ve got enough wits about to know that neither of these numbers in any combination gets you to August 31, which is 33 days away at the time this was tweeted.

15 days away? Nope. 4 days away? Nope. 15 x 4? Nope. 15 + 4? Nope. 154? Certainly not. 4 weeks from now? Eh, that’s 28 days, still no. So what in the hell are these numbers supposed to mean?

Now, what I want to know is whether or not the person who Photoshopped the image is the same person who eventually smashed the tweet button.

Florida State is one of the most popular brands in college football, so it stands to reason that they should at least have a handful of social media employees.  How many people looked at this graphic dead in the face and didn’t bat an eyelash?

To their credit, though, the tweet has remained up, allowing us to revel in the hilarity of the replies:
