The Florida State football team fell to ACC rival Clemson on Saturday in Tallahassee. Administration held a meeting about the future of head coach Mike Norvell a day later.
Will the school choose to move on?
It’s a decision that would come with a price. Norvell’s buyout is set at $45 million. Firing staff members could cost the Seminoles upwards of $100 million.
Fans have grown frustrated over the last three seasons. Discussions about the direction of the football program are now being had.
Fans want Mike Norvell fired.
A plane with a banner is flying around Doak before FSU-Clemson but misspells Norvell in the message 😭😂

That was evident before kickoff of their most recent matchup. A plane flew around the stadium with a message to leadership. The fanbase is fed up.
Norvell’s last few years have been disappointing. The Seminoles are 10-21 since 2024. They appear destined for another losing campaign in 2026.
Florida State went 13-0 in the 2023 regular season, leading to an extension for its head coach. The ‘Noles have been in a downward spiral since giving Norvell a raise.
A hefty buyout is thought to be holding administration back from pulling the plug. Even as recent as last week, there was a belief that the school would rather spend more money on recruiting and resources than fire Mike Norvell. Now, it may have no choice.
FSU is discussing the future.
On3 reports that a meeting was held Sunday after the Seminoles’ 36-24 loss to Clemson. Florida State fell behind in that contest 29-10 at the start of the fourth quarter.
Most fans bailed before the final whistle. The stadium was empty.
GREAT CROWD FOR THE CLEMSON GAME! https://t.co/gVhc3tzlXs

FSU would score twice get to within four points late before allowing a 79-yard touchdown run to effectively end the game. No one stuck around to see the outcome.
Mike Norvell has completely lost the fanbase. If support dwindles further, the Seminoles will fire their head coach. We should know more about the details of the conversation in the coming days.
