There has been a flurry of reports recently about the way the college sports landscape could potentially be reshaped.

For a while now, fans have been waiting to actually get to see Oklahoma and Texas head to the SEC.

It has also been known for a while that USC and UCLA would be heading to the Big Ten.

The Big 12 also already has its replacements for Oklahoma and Texas joining the conference this year.

However, this summer has led to the possibility of some more big moves coming.

Colorado has already decided to bail on the Pac-12 for the Big 12.

Since then, the expectation has been that multiple schools could join them while others would head to the Big Ten as a result of the Pac-12’s disappointing media rights options.

While that Pac-12 drama is what has been stealing headlines recently, it appears that there’s a pretty notable school from the ACC that is also looking for a way out of their conference.

During an interview on the Florida State football program’s Youtube channel, the chairman of the school’s board of regents seemed to make it pretty clear that he wants out of the ACC.

Right now, the biggest thing standing in the way is a grant of rights that FSU and other ACC schools signed as part of the media deal with ESPN that was agreed to in 2016.

“We have a very good handle on what our risks are under that document. What our opportunities are under that document. That’s the least of my worries. We have gotten a lot of counsel on that document, and that will not be the document that keeps us from taking action,” he said. “I’ll leave it at that.”

That grant of rights would revert any money Florida State makes outside of the conference back to the ACC unless they can find a way out of it.

That issue is one of the many currently presented by the media right deal with ESPN. The deal runs through 2036 and is already lagging way behind the deals that the SEC and Big Ten have received.

As a result, the conference’s schools will struggle to compete financially with the those other conferences and they are still a long way away from being able to get a better deal.

There is a lot of attention being paid to the potential collapse of the Pac-12 right now, but things could also be getting interesting over in the ACC>
