Police arrested two Florida teens after a video showed one of them driving a lawn mower inside a busy Target store. Not only that, the driver of the mower shattered a glass door on their way into the store, according to the Ocala Police Department.
A video shows the 18-year-olds unloading the lawn mower from a trailer in front of the Target store in Ocala on Saturday afternoon. One of the teenagers, the driver, wears a straw hat and denim overalls. WESH News called it a “social media stunt.”
“The last thing you expect to see inside a Target is a lawn mower coming through the door,” shopper Vanessa Scarlett, who recorded video of the stunt with her phone, told WESH News. “He actually drove straight into the door first and shattered it.”
According to the Ocala Police Department, the stunt’s damage was still apparent on Sunday, with broken glass at the entrance covered by wooden boards.
The incident did not begin at Target, according to investigators. One of the teenagers allegedly utilized a leaf blower inside a Culver’s the previous evening.
Police arrested both the driver of the lawn mower and the teen who filmed the stunt. Officers charged the teen who allegedly used the leaf blower at Culver’s with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. He also received a second disorderly conduct charge for the mower stunt. Police charged the teen who allegedly recorded the stunt inside the Target with disorderly conduct and a principal to disorderly conduct.
“These actions endangered people and caused property damage,” said a spokesperson for the Ocala Police Department. “They are crimes, not harmless videos.
“Think before you record. It’s not worth an arrest and a criminal charge.”
