If you tuned into Fox News on Friday morning, you may have been surprised to learn legendary White Sox slugger Frank Thomas died earlier this year after he popped up on an “In Memoriam” segment. Thankfully, he wasted no time confirming he’s alive and well after the error came to his attention.

Thomas spent the vast majority of his time in the MLB with the Chicago White Sox, and the man known as “The Big Hurt” clocked 521 home runs and averaged .301 at the plate over the course of a Hall of Fame career that spanned 19 seasons.

While he may have some trouble maintaining his testosterone levels, there’s nothing that suggests the 55-year-old doesn’t have plenty of years ahead of him. However, on Friday, the Fox News program The Faulkner Focus included his picture in a segment memorializing people who passed away over the course of 2023.

Now, there was a former baseball player named Frank Thomas who died in 2023, but he was a three-time All-Star for the Pittsburgh Pirates who was born in 1929 and made it to the ripe old age of 93 before his lengthy life came to an end in January.

It didn’t take long for the other Frank Thomas to hop online to confirm he’s still kicking, as he posted a picture of himself sitting in his car while making it clear reports of his death were quite premature and that (like Wade Boggs) he’s still very much alive.

It’s worth noting the folks who made the error issued a correction after the screw-up came to their attention.

Here’s to hoping it will be a very long time until Thomas is actually featured in that kind of segment.
