The 2024 Paris Olympics are scheduled to kick off July next year. However, it sounds like some trouble is brewing in France.

It’s not enough to put next year’s Summer Olympics in jeopardy, but it’s definitely a situation to monitor.

According to Sports Illustrated, “French investigators raided the headquarters of Paris Olympic organizers on Tuesday in an investigation into suspected corruption.”

Sources claim “the police are looking into allegations of favoritism and misuse of public money in the attribution of construction contracts.”

That’s not a great look for the 2024 Paris Olympics, but they are “cooperating with the investigators to facilitate their investigations,” per The Associated Press.

Although this situation is going on, apparently this isn’t the first time Olympic Organizer Headquarters have been investigated for alleged corruption.

Reports claim “this is the third Summer Olympics in a row where the event’s organizers have been investigated for corruption.”

“Vote-buying allegations linked to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the 2021 Tokyo Games resulted in the removal of several members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from that organization,” per SI.

So, perhaps this is just the world we live in when it comes to the Summer Olympics.

At the very least, the allegations don’t seem serious enough to postpone the planned sporting event next year. Which is great, considering it could be a lot worse.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are set to begin next summer between July 26 and August 11. With that said, mark it on your calendars, as it should be a great event, as usual.
