Linebacker prospect Gage Goldberg inked his NLI on National Signing Day this week as he officially turns his focus to the future. The defender will be joining Deion Sanders’ program in Boulder, and he shared the moment with his father in attendance.

The Goldbergs were seen taking part in a family tradition behind the podium as Gage effortlessly tossed his father over his shoulder in celebration.

Gage’s dad is pro wrestler Bill Goldberg, if you haven’t already made the connection. A WWE Hall of Famer and a former Atlanta Falcon, he knows Coach Prime well.

The relationship with his old teammate might’ve aided in Gage’s recruitment as he chose the Buffs over interest from Alabama, UCF, Duke, and UTSA.

Prior to becoming a wrestling legend, Bill Goldberg was an All-SEC contributor along the defensive line for the Georgia Bulldogs. That football background certainly helped in his transition to the ring!

Gage seems to have picked up both the football genes and a few of the wrestling moves.

He was spotted casually throwing his dad into a fireman’s carry shortly after putting pen to paper and officially becoming a Colorado Buff.

That move might turn out to be useful considering the intense training regiments we’ve seen this offseason in Boulder. Deion Sanders invited a few Marines to campus to lead a recent workout session, and being able to toss, drag, and carry teammates all over the football field was a requirement!

Gage Goldberg became part of a Top 25 Colorado recruiting class, and he’ll hope to make an impact either on special teams or with a defense that struggled mightily in 2023.

But hey, if football doesn’t work out, a career in the ring might be in the cards!
