Heading into the 2023 season, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was expected to make such a leap forward that he’d be considered one of if not the best wide receiver in the National Football League.

And while the devastating injury to future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has likely ended his potential to put up league-best numbers, his all-world talent is still there, as evidenced by the incredible game-tying catch that he caught on a fade route in the fourth quarter.

Making the catch even more impressive, though, is the fact that the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year appeared to have tipped Zach Wilson’s errant pass to himself whilst simultaneously holding off the Buffalo Bills’ cornerback in order to catch it.

Despite playing with a largely terrible trio of quarterbacks in 2022, the former Ohio State University Buckeye still won Offensive Rookie of the Year after putting up 83 catches for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns. His talent is so well-regarded, in fact, that Rodgers has frequently cited the 23-year-old as one of the main reasons he wanted to join Gang Green.

If Rodgers does miss significant time with an injury, it’ll certainly be interesting to see what the Jets decide to do at the quarterback position, as both analysts and bookies seem to think that the rest of the roster is ready to compete at a serious level.

Not only did the acquisition of Rodgers put playoff expectations upon the Jets (the franchise hasn’t appeared in the postseason since 2010, a league-leading drought), but bookies had them as the seventh most-likely team to win this year’s Super Bowl, behind only the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, Cincinnati Bengals, and Dallas Cowboys.

Those odds, however, will surely change significantly once the specific nature of Rodgers’ injury, which is currently being called an “ankle” injury, is confirmed.
