Jaden Sheffield, son of nine-time MLB All-Star Gary Sheffield, got his money’s worth after being ejected from a collegiate summer league baseball game over the weekend. He threw a very entertaining tantrum as he made his way off of the field and walked back to the parking lot.
To his credit, the initial gripe was more-than warranted!
Sheffield is currently a rising senior at Georgetown University. The Tampa-native was the No. 88 prospect overall out of high school and the No. 19-ranked player in Florida at his position. However, his college career has not been as fruitful as he or his father might’ve hoped.
Sheffield does not play often. He only made 21 appearances with three hits and two walks during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. 2024 was better, but not by much.
The 6-foot-0, 188-pound outfielder recorded only four hits in 19 at-bats. Not great!
Jaden Sheffield is also struggling in summer ball.
As his fourth and final year with the Hoyas slowly approaches, Sheffield spent the summer in Connecticut with the Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. It has been a mostly underwhelming venture, as he is hitting just .216 in 81 plate appearances and .115 in the last month.
He was called out on a pair of pitches that were probably outside of the strike zone. At the very least, they could’ve gone either way. Sheffield was furious and exchanged some words with the umpire on his way back to the dugout, which led him to get tossed.
At that point, the Major Leaguer’s 21-year-old son doubled back to get his money’s worth and had to be restrained by coaches and teammates. He then proceeded to throw a fit after gathering his belongings and marching back to the team bus in the parking lot.

Did Sheffield have a case to be upset? Absolutely.
Did he handle himself well? No.
Jaden Sheffield reached his breaking point on the tail end of a frustrating summer. It made for great entertainment but it won’t help his career.
