Boxing took a devastating body blow with the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight, but quickly rebounded with the devastating Canelo Alvarez knockout of James Kirkland. Knockout artist Gennady Golovkin continued to help boxing recover by extending his ridiculous KO streak to 20 bouts when he took down Willie Monroe Jr. on Saturday in Los Angeles. Golovkin pushed his unblemished record to 33-0, with 30 of his victories coming way of KO.
Golovkin smashed Monroe (19-2, 6 KO) with a wicked left hook that slammed him on the canvas in the second round.

Monroe battled hard, but found himself getting knocked to the canvas for the third time. That’s when he barely stood up before the 10 count, but realized his body couldn’t take any more abuse and told referee Jack Reiss, “I’m done.”
