Geno Smith Goes On Twitter Rampage By Calling Rex Ryan A ‘Snake’ After His Former HC Talked Crap On ‘First Take’

Geno Smith fires off tweets dissing Rex Ryan after former head coach talked bad on 'First Take' about him

Geno Smith and his former New York Jets head coach, Rex Ryan, sure don’t seem like they’re too fond of one another. While the former started 29 games at quarterback under Ryan on the Jets, the entire time together was pretty dysfunctional, with Smith even calling out Rexy in the media a few times.

Fast-forward to Wednesday afternoon and we’ve got our latest example of the two beefing.

That’s because on ESPN’s First Take, Rex Ryan was talking about the Tom Brady-Howard Stern interview, and was asked if it were Brady or his former head coach Bill Belichick who was more responsible for the six Super Bowl titles the New England Patriots won while the player-coach were paired up. In arguing his point that Brady deserves more of the credit, he (maybe?) accidentally threw Geno Smith under the bus, nonchalantly saying the below during his reply.

“Give [Bill Belichick] Geno Smith and let’s see how many Super Bowls he would have won.”

That might seem harmless, right? After all, Smith was probably just the first name that popped into Ryan’s head while on national TV. Even so, Geno didn’t find it too kind, and went on Twitter to express just how pissed off he was about the comment — and, oh boy, was he pissed off. Take a look at his series of tweets after finding out about Rex’s diss.

Good lord, Geno Smith sure wasn’t having any of this bullshit from Rex Ryan, was he? Not only did he offer his opinions on Twitter above, but he then retweeted the graphic below to really get his point across about his former head coach.

Overall, Ryan and Geno went just 11-18 together as a pair, with the coach getting axed after the 2014 season, and the quarterback being benched in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick — who actually led the Jets to a 10-6 record in 2015. Given their history with each other and this latest spat, it’s safe to say neither will be sending birthday or holiday cards to the other.
