Tom Brady’s Father Claims 20 Years Of Unrelenting Dominance Can Get ‘Boring,’ Speaks On Son’s Relationship With Belichick

Tom Brady Sr. predicted back in 2015 that his son’s breakup with the organization that helped catapult him to living legend status would end poorly.

“It will end badly…It’s a cold business. And for as much as you want it to be familial, it isn’t.”

While it didn’t end with bombshell reports of Gisele having an affair with Robert Kraft or Brady and Belichick bare-knuckle boxing in the Gillette Stadium parking lot, Brady leaving New England for Tampa remains a bit confounding.

Brady’s father, Tom Sr., appeared on the Raising Fame podcast with the Currys to speak on rumors of a power struggle between his son and his coach.

“I don’t know that it’s a divorce. Twenty years together is a long time. I can’t tell you the hundreds of times Tommy has said, ‘Bill [Belichick] is the best coach in football.’ Tommy sings Bill’s praises. Divorce sounds a little bit harsh.”

Instead, Brady Sr. called the split “a separation.”

“Bill’s got a lot of responsibilities to keep the Patriots on track,” he said. “That is a bigger responsibility than keeping Tommy under the hood. Both of them are mature individuals. I really respect Bill’s decision and respect Tommy’s decision as well. It’s OK to take different paths. You don’t have to stay joined at the hip.” [via Boston.com]

Brady Sr. also revealed that his son is embracing his new team because evidently building the greatest dynasty in professional sports gets “boring.”

I cannot write about Brady Sr. without including this clip from Super Bowl media of a seven-year-old bringing Brady to tears.

The anti-drug people gave him a $50 savings bond for his brave contribution to crime-fighting, and upon the bond’s maturity 10 years later, he used it to buy his very first bag of marijuana.
