As we get closer to the 2023 college football season, there is one thing on the mind of many teams across the nation.

They want to dethrone the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs have won the last 2 NCAA titles thanks in large part to putting together one of college football’s best defenses.

Unfortunately, that defense has suffered some major losses over the last couple of years.

Last year, they had 5 defensive players drafted in the first round, including the 1st overall pick.

This year, they won’t be losing as many players to the 1st round of the draft, but they still have a couple of big names projected there. Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, and Kelee Ringo are all expected to be taken in the first round.

Programs like Georgia are always expected to have replacements ready to go when they lose big names like this, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it looks like one of those replacements has decided to transfer.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Georgia defensive lineman Bear Alexander intends to enter the transfer portal.

Alexander was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school and didn’t have a ton of impact for much of his freshman season, but he showed up in a big way in the biggest game of the year.

He had a pair of sacks in the Bulldogs’ National Championship Game win over TCU.

The 6’3″, 325 lb former top 50 recruit should get plenty of interest in the transfer portal from teams looking for somebody to make an impact in the middle of their defensive line.

Meanwhile, the Georgia Bulldogs will have a bit more work to do than expected to make sure their defense remains one of the nation’s best.
