Entering the season, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton is one of the favorites to win the 2027 Heisman Trophy as college football’s best player.
Stockton took over the starting role for the Bulldogs in 2025 after previous starter Stetson Bennett tore his UCL in the SEC Championship Game. He then started all 14 games for Georgia in 2026 after Bennett transferred to Miami, throwing for 2,894 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just five interceptions as the Dawgs reached the College Football Playoff quarterfinal.
Stockton also added 462 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, making him one of the top returning QBs in the nation in 2026 and Georgia a national title threat yet again. DraftKings lists Stockton at +1800 to win the Heisman, the ninth-best odds of any player in the country.
Despite that fact, it appears you won’t be able to play as Stockton in “EA Sports College Football 27.”
Gunner Stock Reportedly Opted Out Of EA Sports College Football 27
This year marks the third year of EA Sports’ revival of its beloved College Football series, and Stockton appeared in both prior editions.
In last year’s game, he’s listed as a 90 overall rating in the latest update. If he carried that rating into the new edition of the game, it would make him the game’s No. 8-ranked quarterback.
However, it appears that won’t be the case.

Multiple outlets have reported that Stockton has opted out of being included in “EA Sports College Football 27.” And he does not appear on the EA’s website under the current player rankings.
It’s entirely possible that Stockton has not yet been added for some reason. However, if he has opted out, he would be one of the most high-profile players to do so since the game’s resurgence.
The new game is scheduled to launch worldwide on July 9 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and on PC for the first time since its revival.
