Opening Day is upon us as all 30 teams in the MLB kick off the year.

Right now, the New York Yankees are taking on the San Francisco Giants and it turns out that Gerrit Cole has already made team history in the first game of the season.

He’s been red hot on the mound collecting strikes with ease. In fact, he recorded six strikeouts in the first two innings.

What’s more impressive, is that Gerrit Cole hit 10 strikeouts in just four innings on Opening Day. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Cole has officially set a Yankees all-time record for most strikeouts in the first game of the season.

It’s safe to say that Gerrit Cole is going bonkers to begin the year. I mean, 10 strikeouts is a solid day. But to do that in just four innings is insane!

Here’s a quick clip of Cole’s 10th strikeout on the day.

Just a stellar performance. This is the type of game the Yankees need to remain on top of the AL East.

If Gerrit Cole can keep this up, then New York is going to be in good hands throughout the season.
