The New York Giants had a dismal start to their 2023 season over the weekend as they got absolutely waxed by the Dallas Cowboys, a division rival, by the tune of 40-0.
While many Giants fans were feeling positive heading into the matchup, one prescient fan smelt trouble coming as soon as he saw running back Saquon Barkley’s pregame fit.
Hours before the Giants and the Cowboys even took the field, this Twitter user quote-tweeted a video of Barkley arriving at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey with the caption “We’re losing by 40 tonight.” The Giants would go on to lose 40-0.
In the hours since the Giants’ loss, the tweet has blown up and gone viral with over 42,000 likes at the time of this writing.

While every aspect of the Giants’ performance was concerning, the biggest issue was likely the play of quarterback Daniel Jones, whom the team signed to a massive new contract in the offseason.
Coming off the best season of his career in 2022 while playing under head coach Brian Daboll for the first time, the 26-year-old Jones regressed back to his old self on Sunday night as he completed 15 of 28 passes for just 104 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions against Dallas’ ferocious defensive unit.
Luckily for the Giants, they’ll have a great opportunity to get their first win of the season next week when they take on the Arizona Cardinals, who are the betting favorites to be the worst team in the National Football League this year.
As for the Dallas Cowboys, they’ll look to continue their hot start to the season when they take on New York City’s other team, the Jets, on Sunday, September 17 in their home opener.
