New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley suffered a left ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, and reports indicate he’ll be sidelined for an extended period.

Barkley, who was carted off the field midway through the first quarter, has been a crucial asset for the Giants.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz revealed that Barkley is expected to miss two to four weeks due to a sprained right ankle.

This news comes as a bit of a relief to Giants fans, who, while heavily reliant on Barkley, probably expected worse news when learning of his injury.

In Sunday’s thrilling comeback game, Barkley played a pivotal role in New York’s comeback victory over the Cardinals.

Despite facing deficits of 20-0 and 28-7, the Giants secured a 31-28 win, thanks in part to Barkley’s outstanding performance. He contributed with a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown, accumulating 92 total yards along with six catches.

The Giants will now look to their depth chart and backup running backs to fill the void left by Barkley as they aim to continue their season on a winning note.
