A viral altercation at the Two Eagles Golf Course in West Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada has cast aspersions on the idea that all Canadians are kind individuals and friendly to their neighbors. This bizarre golf course brawl ended with a shirt lost, broken jaw, and according to the latest reports no charges were filed (yet) allegedly because the heated confrontation appeared to be mutual but it is still under investigation.

This golf course brawl appears to have gripped the golf world after it got picked up on r/golf over on Reddit. From there, it hit local news in British Columbia who tracked down more details.

I was skeptical at first that this video was new as one of the guys on the outskirts of the golf course brawl is wearing a polo and shorts. This is Canada we’re talking about hear and it was filmed last weekend but West Kelowna, British Columbia appears to be in a quirky weather area east of the Cascades that is high desert, similar to The Gorge in Washington, and isn’t the ‘great white north’ that we associate with other parts of Canada.

There is some strong language in this golf course brawl so be forewarned:

A quick look at the weather report shows that West Kelowna, B.C. got up to 68 degrees on Tuesday and 64 on Monday which, if you’ve just lived through a frigid Winter, is probably warm enough to go golfing in a polo and shorts if you bring an outer layer in the golf cart.

Now we have to talk about the proverbial 800-pound gorilla in the room: the dude who lost his shirt and was left with a broken jaw. It’s hard to say for certain when the jaw was allegedly fractured but he gets laid out with a relatively solid shot at the 00:52 mark in the video and hits the grass. At that point, things should have been over and done with for good but nothing was normal about this golf course brawl, nothing at all.

According to the thread on reddit, it all began when the ‘blue shirt group’ hit a ball into the group ahead of them that was playing slow. That sparked the brawl. An article from the Penticton Western News which was updated yesterday afternoon says the West Kelowna Royal Canadian Mounted Police were investigating the incident and that they would not comment any further on the ongoing investigation.

…What does it say about me that after watching this golf course brawl I’m mostly just amazed that they can play golf in Canada in early April? In my head, the courses up there wouldn’t be open until late May but you learn something new every day!
