Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Star Gordon Ryan Trolls Dillon Danis For Ducking Yet Another MMA Fight

Dillon Danis is one of the biggest name in the world of mixed martial arts.

How exactly that became the case, nobody is quite sure.

Danis first made his name as a young talent on the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu scene where he won gold in the 2016 Pan Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship at 181 pounds in 2016.

He then joined the MMA world as a training partner to Conor McGregor, who at the time was on top of the UFC world after knocking out Jose Aldo to win UFC Featherweight Championship.

But Danis’ resume in the MMA world isn’t exactly impressive. He’s fought just twice, once in 2018 and 2019. He has two wins, both by submission, over a pair of opponents who don’t have Wikipedia pages.

Since then, however, his name has been bandied about when discussing a number of big-name fights with YouTubers and influencers. There’s only one problem. Every time one of those fights gets close, Danis finds a reason to back out.

And now multi-time Jiu Jistu world champ Gordon Ryan is calling him out for unwillingness to fight.

Gordon Ryan Calls Dillon Danis “A Clown” For Repeatedly Dropping Out Of Fights

Ryan and Danis are former rivals on the mat. But while Ryan has continued succeed in the BJJ world, Danis has appeared to stop fighting altogether.

After Danis pulled out of a recent planned fight against YouTube star KSI because he could not make weight, Ryan didn’t hold back.

“He gets the publicity and he doesn’t actually have to do anything,” Ryan said. “He doesn’t actually have to compete. I don’t know what his deal is. He must have some sort of inheritance because he doesn’t teach, he’s not sponsored by anybody, he hasn’t posted anything on his social media. He doesn’t compete. There’s no way he can possibly make money unless he has a job at Walmart that we don’t know about.

“He must just be living off his family’s money or something and just hanging out. He did a great job at building his initial brand, but if you’re going to talk s*** and you don’t compete and you don’t win, then you’re just a clown, in my opinion.” – Gordon Ryan via MMAFighting.com

Ryan went on to say that he doesn’t mind Danis’ trash talking, but that he’s bothered by the fighter’s refusal to back it up.

“No one realizes the easy part is talking s***,” Ryan said. “The competing and the winning is the hard part. If he could do that, you can set yourself up to talk s***. But Dillon does the opposite. He talks s*** and just doesn’t ever compete.”
