Disgraced former Panthers/Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy has made a career change and its consistent with what got him in trouble in his NFL days: beating people up.
The 29-year-old former Pro Bowler, who played four seasons in the NFL before a domestic violence case helped derail his career, will face former Jaguars defensive end Austen Lane on June 12 in a heavyweight bout on the Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series, the UFC announced Saturday night.
The series was launched in 2017 as a showcase to showcase talent on the cusp of earning a contract with the UFC.
The two fighters have transitioned nicely into their new careers–Lane made his pro debut in April 2017 and has since gone 4-0 record with four first-round knockouts. Hardy won all three of his amateur MMA fights via first-round knockout.
Hardy is mean.

In an interview with FloCombat.com, Lane said:
“At the end of the day, when we go in the cage, we’re just going to be two fighters. Obviously we’ll both have some athleticism that has carried over from the NFL, but I don’t consider him former NFL player Greg Hardy, I consider him MMA fighter Greg Hardy, and that’s how I’m going to approach what he’s bringing to the table.”
