Pro Golfer Sets A World Record For Playing The Fastest Par-5 Hole In History

Several European Tour pro golfers set out to break a Guinness World Record. The aim was to play the fastest par-5 in history and the previous record was set at 1 minute and 33 seconds.

Pro golfers Guido Migliozzi, Sean Crocker, Paul Dunne and Thomas Detry all attempted to break the world record. The rules were pretty simple. The clock started once they hit the ball off the tee. They’d then need to sprint to their ball and hit their approach shot and then spring to the green to finish off the hole and putt in the ball.

All of this needed to be accomplished in under 1 minute and 33 seconds which is pretty insane. Possibly the biggest factor working against these pro golfers isn’t the distance of the hole (500 yards) but the fact that they have to get their heart rates all jacked up while sprinting to their drive off the tee and then make a smooth golf swing.

Anyone who’s ever tried to swing a golf club when their heart is racing knows that it almost always ends poorly. These guys are literally trying to play golf while working out. Spoiler alert: one of the breaks the Guinness World Record but I guess you knew that already because I put it in the headline.

Here’s the same video on Twitter if you’d prefer to watch it there:

The first golfer, Guido Migliozzi, hooked the shit out of his approach shot and was out of the hole before he ever even really got started. Sean Crocker played the hole at a pretty blistering pace of 1:41 but that wasn’t enough to break the Guinness World Record.

Paul Dunne took himself out of contention because he admitted that his driver bumped the ball but the final golfer, Thomas Detry swung his way into the record books with a time of 1 minute and 29 seconds.

Meanwhile, it took the golfers in front of my group last weekend approximately two hours to play a single par-5 when all four golfers went into the woods off the tee. I’m not even joking, that would be a shitty joke if I was, this actually happened. It took them like 20 minutes to play a single hole.
