Gus Johnson is one of the best play-by-play broadcasters in his generation, and he’s at his best calling basketball.

Meanwhile, Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark is one of the best basketball players of her generation. Johnson had the chance to call Clark’s game against Maryland on Saturday in a huge Big Ten matchup.

I’m sure that Gus Johnson was pumped up to see the most electrifying scorer that either men’s or women’s college basketball has seen in decades. But, he’s going to regret a Freudian slip that is going viral on social media during the contest.

Oh no, Gus! Not that what he said wasn’t accurate, but it’s live TV!

Also, what a block by Caitlin Clark. She’s certainly not known for her defense, let alone shot-blocking prowess.

She is known for scoring the basketball, and she did just that. Clark went for a casual 38 points, 12 assists, and 6 rebounds.

Clark, who is in her fourth year at Iowa, does still have another year left if she chooses due to the free year of eligibility that the NCAA granted everyone during the COVID Pandemic. She’s averaging 32.1 points per game this year, and is just 65 points behind former Washington guard and current NBA star Kelsey Plum for the most in NCAA Division I history at 3,462.

But, this will always be the game that Gus Johnson cussed on live television.

Iowa won 93-85, and improved to 21-2 on the season.
