Southern Connecticut State University gymnast Sydney Smith is one of the most-followed collegiate athletes on social media.

Sydney has over 1.6 million followers on TikTok and 222K followers on Instagram where he regularly shares footage from the gym and behind-the-scenes pictures of life as a collegiate athlete.

In a recent viral video, Sydney Smith attempts a handstand and then takes it one step further. Once she gets into the completely vertical position, Smith then attempts to transition down onto the flats of her forearms.

She isn’t able to hold it more than a fraction of a second but it is still impressive enough to go viral on TikTok.

Her followers chimed in with comments of:

“I don’t know what this is but I enjoy watching it.”

“Livvy who?”

There was all sorts of chirping in the comments. But for some reason, many suggested doing gymnastics in socks is holding her back. I have to imagine they’re training socks of some sort, right? For extra grip on the mat? Am I being naive here?

Posted 5 days ago, this video of Sydney Smith training on the balance beam has been viewed over 1.7 million times already.

And those numbers are huge but nothing compared to this video from June 9th that has been viewed nearly 4 million times on TikTok, also from a training session on the balance beam.

Sydney Smith is a junior at Southern Connecticut State University and completes in the all-around competition.

With 1.6 million followers on TikTok and counting, she is approaching Olivia ‘Livvy‘ Dunne levels of fame. Which is odd that she isn’t even on the On3 Top 100 NIL chart given her social following.

Sydney has about 1/7th the followers on Instagram that she has on TikTok. However, she’s regularly sharing pictures on the ‘gram in order to build her following.
