Sure Verner, a girl’s high school basketball coach in Mississippi, was “knocked out cold” and hospitalized Thursday night after being attacked by a parent after reportedly trying to enforce a team rule that all players must ride the team bus following away games.

A wild uppercut or whatever it was certainly seems like the next logical step for this kind of disagreement.

According to the report, Heather Thompson, the parent who allegedly struck the coach, turned herself in after initially leaving the scene of the incident.

Call me crazy, but I’m guessing there’s a little history here? Either that, or parents in Mississippi treat girl’s high school basketball the same exact way they approach SEC football.

Verner has since been released from the hospital. The unhinged parent will be charged with simple assault on a school official.

You gotta love sports!
