South Carolina sports reporter Kevin Bilodeau was just trying to do his job at a local high school football game on Saturday when things quickly took a turn and he was escorted out. It was no fault of his own.

Bilodeau serves as the Sports Director for Live5News in Charleston, South Carolina. The CBS affiliate was founded in 1953 and serves as “the Lowcountry’s news leader.”

Although Bilodeau gets to talk about the Gamecocks, most of his football coverage revolves around the high school level. As such, he drove over to Colleton County High school in Walterboro, S.C. for its matchup against White Knoll.

The Cougars hosted the Timberwolves at 0-1 and fell to 0-2 with a 28-point loss on Sept. 2.

Things were going pretty smoothly through the first two quarters and both sides went back-and-forth. It got ugly in the second half and the visitors pulled away to win 42-15.

Bilodeau did not get to see the clock hit zero. He was ejected from the game before halftime.

The bizarre high school football incident took place in the second quarter.

Colleton’s quarterback threw a deep ball to the sideline and his receiver was hung out to dry. A White Knoll defensive back shoved the pass-catcher out of the play and sent him flying.

The receiver did not take kindly to the push and ran back over to retaliate with a shove of his own.

Penalties offset on the play, but tempers flared on the Colleton sideline and coaches had to restrain one of their players. It ultimately ended with the coaches standing over the player on the ground.

As Bilodeau filmed the mayhem, the Colleton staff came over, covered his camera with a pom pom and asked him to leave. They threatened to get the police involved but ultimately let him exit on his own accord. He is permanently banned from the sideline during future games.

Bilodeau was just doing his job. He was filming the story.

Now he won’t be allowed back. Super strange…
