Oklahoma State fans are planning to take over TDECU Stadium for the college football game against Houston on Saturday. The Cowboys are planning a stripe out for the Cougars’ second Saturday night conference game since 2024.

Yes, you read that correctly!

These kinds of college football fan activations are typically reserved for the home team. It will be interesting to see whether the Pokes are able to pull it off on the road.

Houston is finally going to play a night college football game.

The University of Houston has played only one conference night game on a Saturday in the last three years, including this year. The Cougars specifically requested (more than a year ago) to play a night game against UCF in Week 5 because of an event the night before. Their request was denied by the conference and television partner. Absolutely nobody showed up to the day game.

TDECU Stadium holds a maximum capacity of 40,000. It was less than half full against the Knights for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff.

That continues to be an issue for Houston. No matter how good the team might be, its fanbase is not engaged. There is not a lot of excitement surrounding the program. Not from alumni, not from students and not from the community.

However, the Cougars are ranked No. 20 in the country at 5-1 with only one loss to No. 10-ranked Raiders of Texas Tech. By only two points! Conner Weigman is one of the top quarterbacks in college football. They are legit.

With that in mind, Willie Fritz hopes to see better attendance this weekend. Houston will finally get to play a home conference game against No. 18 Oklahoma State and its head coach wants to see fans in the seats.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 pm. CT on Saturday. How many people are going to show up? We’ll see…

Oklahoma State fans are trying to ‘stripe out’ TDECU Stadium.

Given the lack of attendance in recent weeks, months and years, Oklahoma State fans think they could end up in the majority. The Cowboys are expecting a large contingency of black and orange to be at the game.

Not only is there a large alumni base for Oklahoma State in Texas, it’s “only” an eight-hour drive. That is nothing for a top-20 team that has life for the first time in a few years. There are going to be a lot of Cowboys fans in attendance.

With that in mind, a prominent fan account on social media decided to create a diabolical plan. @OKSTProbs joked (even though it’s not really a joke) that Oklahoma State fans should “stripe out” TDECU Stadium as if it is a home game. Some fans wear orange. The others wear white.

Cougars fans saw @OKSTProbs’ post and immediately started to panic. Some of them even offered to sponsor tickets for a local high school group to boost attendance. Others tried to unload their extra tickets at a huge discount to get people there.

I do think Houston will see a huge boost in attendance on Saturday. I don’t know which team will have more fans…
