coast to coast car racing route with Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
Earlier this Summer, a new ‘Coast to Coast‘ record for the Cannonball Run was set in a time of 22 hours and 38 minutes. While it isn’t a true Cannonball Run leaving from the Red Ball Garage in Manhattan and driving to the Portofino Hotel in Redondo Beach, it is still an insane record as they drove from Jacksonville, Florida to San Diego, California in under 23 hours.
For context, I once drove from Aspen, Colorado to Tallahassee, Florida back in the ‘atlas’ days of road trips and sure, we got lost for a few hours after a wrong turn routed us into New Mexico, but that trip took around 36 hours and we started from Colorado and not the coast! Going from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean in under 23 hours is hard to fathom.
‘Coast to Coast’ Cannonball Run Record Holders Show Off Tricked Out Cadillac
I covered the ‘Coast to Coast’ record here on BroBible back in May when it was completed. At the time, I wrote about how they completed the drive in a suped up Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing with a 54-gallon fuel capacity to reduce stops to fill up. But we didn’t have many other details on the vehicle, until now.
In a new video, the @Cannonballcc account gave a more in-depth look at the Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing used to set the record. The premise of the video is the racer saying they are constantly asked “how do you not get caught?” when people learn they have done a Cannonball Run so instead of answering each question individually they gave a tour of the vehicle to show off the upgrades.

Enhancements? Quite a few!
From what he tells us in the video, this Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing has been outfitted with additional headlights because, according to him, it gets extremely dark at night. I can only imagine how blinding those would be for approaching drivers but that’s rarely an issue on the highway where most cars have self-dimming rearview mirrors.
Also included on the vehicle are ‘laser jammers’ which can sell for anywhere between $2,000 and $4,500. They are exactly what they sound like, devices used to jam laser detection (speed ‘radar’) and evade detection on the roads.
On the back of the car there are three large antennas. One to monitor the police radio feed and the other two are CB radios. Why two? Who knows!
Inside the car resembles a data center with cables running in every direction. With multiple screens, there is one screen dedicated to tracking the car so people following along during their Coast to Coast attempt would know where the vehicle was, how fast it was traveling, etc. They had one screen dedicated to using Waze for navigation and a timer of the C2C run. There was also a dedicated Garmin GPS screen, old school, that was used for telemetry.
The Cadillac’s screen was also dedicated to navigation and they actually used this as the main navigation screen because it would pipe directions and alerts through the car’s speakers.
