It looks like things could already be starting to turn around for Auburn’s football program.

Hugh Freeze was named the new head coach of the program just a coach of weeks ago and he is already making an impact.

Today, he secured his first big recruiting flip for Auburn.

Connor Lew is a 4-star offensive lineman who had previously committed to Miami. Today, he announced that he would be switching his commitment to Auburn.

I will forever be grateful to Coach Cristobal, Coach Mirabal. and the entire Miami coaching staff for believing in me and for all of the love they’ve shown me over the last year. i’ve been thinking a lot about life after college and life after football and, after careful consideration and discussion with my family, I have decided to make some changes more closely aligned with my long-term objectives. With that being said, I have de-committed from The University of Miami and I’m changing my commitment to Auburn.

According to 247 Sports, Lew is the 16th ranked interior offensive lineman in the class of 2023.

Auburn was one of the 24 schools to make Lew an offer. That list of schools included Clemson, Penn State, and Georgia, but it looks like Auburn has finally won the battle for Lew in the end.

It’s a good start to Freeze’s second stint in the SEC after his first around ended in disaster.

Auburn needs some big moves to get themselves back among the top teams in the SEC. The past few years have been disappointing for the Tigers. They won 6 games in the 2020 and 2021 seasons before missing out on a bowl game with a 5-7 record this season.

Luckily, Hugh Freeze has already made his first big move for the program just a couple of weeks in. They’ll need to hop he has a lot more on the way.
