Hungary’s Zoltán Gera Scored A FILTHY Goal That Could Be The Dagger For Portugal’s Euro 2016 Hopes

In only Hungary’s third appearance in the Euro tournament – the first since 1972 – they are set to win their group, and just may send prodigal Portugal crashing out of the tournament if they hold on for a win today.

They went up 1-0 early courtesy of a ridiculous half-volley goal by 37-year-old Zoltán Gera that made it through a huge array of Portuguese defenders before finding the back of the net to give the Hungarians an early lead after the set piece played out.

Here’s a few more angles of the filthy strike.

***

UPDATE: Portugal has tied the game 1-1 via a Nani goal in the 42nd minute. With a draw, Portugal will finish third in the group and tap-off against Croatia in the next round.

UPDATE 2: Hungary took a 2-1 lead off a deflected set-piece by Dzsudzsak in the 48th minute only to give one back to Ronaldo & co. less than two minutes later. A 2-2 game and it’s utter insanity.

UPDATE 3: Hungary goes atop once again after a left foot strike by captain Dzsudzsak after a deflected free kick. 3-2 and as of not, Portugal is headed home.

UPDATE 4: Cristiano Ronaldo is on the board AGAIN in the 61st minute, and Portugal are not booking their plane tickets just yet.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and if the Portuguese can’t at least get a draw in this game, it’ll seem as if karma caught up with them as they’ll be heading home.
