Obsession breakout star Inde Navarrette, one of the most talked actresses in the world this year, likely could’ve been anywhere in the world over the weekend. She chose, instead, to watch the dumpster fire 2026 New York Mets take on the similarly disappointing Boston Red Sox at Citi Field.

After jetting over to Paris, France for the first time in her life to attend the Dior Haute Couture show last week, actress Inde Navarrette returned to the States and spent her Sunday at Citi Field to watch the New York Mets take on the Boston Red Sox.

The Mets sit at the bottom of the NL East with a 40-57 record, while the Red Sox, who fired manager Alex Cora earlier in the season, are currently a half-game out of an AL Playoffs Wild Card spot with a 46-48 record.

Given the Mets’ struggles this season, the reactions of Navarrette attending the Mets game ranged from jokes about her having “been through enough” to her potentially being what turns the team’s fortunes around.

Given the plot of Obsession — which is sparked by a dime store magic wish maker that actually works — and the Mets’ history of having gimmicks spur their team on, desperate fans are hoping she can be the one who turns around their season.

“Maybe she can be our new Grimace,” one Mets fan tweeted.

“Using my one wish willow to make the New York Mets good again,” a second suggested.

As many Mets fans have since pointed out, not only did the Mets lose to the Red Sox in front of Navarrette but they also did so in traditionally embarrassing fashion, surrendering a 2-0 lead in the top of the ninth — due to an error by All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor during a potential game-ending double play — before going on to lose in the 10th.

Earlier this month, Obsession became both the highest-grossing original horror movie of the 21st Century, surpassing Sinners‘ $370 million, and the highest-grossing movie of all time for a film with a budget under $1M.

It also recently surpassed Prometheus and Signs to become the eighth highest-grossing horror of all time at global box office.
